Everyday AI: Your Ideal Assistant

While most of us in the media / marketing / PR-communications / advertising world have tested out various AI platforms, I am genuinely surprised when I meet people who have not. While I previously wrote about testing out AI for content creation, and I agree there are certainly concerns around forms of it, platforms like ChatGPT and Claude are the best everyday assistant you could ask for, and you are losing your precious time by not using them in your day to day work and life. Let’s discuss.

I personally use AI daily as both my lifestyle personal assistant, and my creative assistant/partner. I have even noticed many free guides and E-books on how to get the most out of this ‘relationship’ on all kinds of topics from business to planing to book writing - in the way that you have a back and forth to sharpen ideas or explore thoughts. I use it for presentations and pitches, to meal and workout planning. It’s all about the specificity of your prompts (this is an art, and you can watch several youtube videos dedicated to improving), and exploring through ‘conversation’ with your bot. Save certain conversations for AI memory purposes, and try to work with both ChatGPT and Claude if you are doing any writing projects for research in particular. Once you start using the programs, you wil wonder what took you so long. And if you are in any industry predicated on communication, it is your duty to test and understand it, or you are in the wrong business that will always continue to move forward.

I actually asked both platforms how they can make life easier for users in home and business and they said:

Business:

  1. Writing and editing: Drafting emails, reports, presentations, and other documents

  2. Data analysis: Examining data sets, spotting trends, and generating insights

  3. Problem-solving: Brainstorming solutions to business challenges

  4. Research: Gathering and summarizing information on various topics

  5. Coding assistance: Helping debug code, explaining programming concepts

  6. Project management: Breaking down tasks, creating timelines

  7. Customer service: Drafting responses to customer inquiries

Home life:

  1. Meal planning: Generating recipes and shopping lists

  2. Home organization: Creating schedules and to-do lists

  3. Learning assistance: Explaining concepts, answering questions on various subjects

  4. Creative writing: Helping with story ideas, character development

  5. Travel planning: Suggesting itineraries and activities

  6. Personal finance: Budgeting advice, explaining financial concepts

  7. Home improvement: Providing DIY tips and step-by-step instructions

“For new users, I'd suggest starting with simple tasks and gradually exploring more complex applications”

For students in particular, many are discovering the genius of Google’s NotebookLM to share a number of reading documents, courses syllabus’ and more, where the program will break everything down into study guides, reading suggestions, and even a two person podcast session to listen to a condensed version. This does not stop learning, it streamlines it. Law students on TikTok are raving about it.

*For any parents or teachers out there worried about people cheating with ChatGPT, etc. - please be aware that there are dozens of programs to run writing through to flag for AI written content. Even Editors do this for professional work, though more to note any unintentional similar language to other articles.

What are you waiting for? Start now. My own mother uses it and finds it useful, and I know you will too.
